I have never seen a larger wikipedia entry than this on California's Proposition 8, a ballot proposition that changed the state Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to to that being between a man and a woman.
My marriage cost about $15,000 and my divorce costs are still escalating at over $100,000, (yes think about this boys!. I have always thought at the very least, bible thumpers could understand the fudicial benefits of same sex marriages.

I understand that prop 8 is a big issue for the definition of marriage. I also understand many people disagree and some peole do not. To place all blame on "bible thumpers" is not necessary for the people of the state decided how they wanted to define marriage. If marriage is truly only a fiduciary benefit then maybe it is truly unnecessary furthermore, if marriage is a ceremony to reflect a couples relationship...is it really needed. Should people develope their own ceremeony as other culturs have in the past. I am not quite sure about prop 8 yet, to place blame soley on religious group is not fair for the denial of prop 8 represents the current culture and maybe in the future the prop 8 decision will change to reflect the mindset of a new generation.
